Boards Xenoblade Chronicles X Skell weapon slot augments. Specific augments only affect the weapon they're equipped to. ATK augments, for example, only boost the weapon they're attached to.

Then if possible make a video involving how the diskbomb is bugged. No Mag in Left. No Mag in Right. Optimal How much right does compared to left.

Then noting the difference in damage between the different set ups. Probably have already noticed this but the skell overdrive for Mastema and Inferno only increase Ranged Weapon Attack and Diskbombs themselves scale so much by Ranged Attack that the overdrive does barely anything for it.

Yeah Diskbombs are horribly buggy and just dumbly strong. If targeting an appendage. Usually Double damage to appendages means something like Shrapnel or Master Gunner where the damage does not increase but the breaking power does.

You can buy other frames starting at level Other frames unlock as you get through the story or invest in manufacturers. Once you pick a frame, you can equip the parts.

There are 15 individual parts you can equip. Don't get overwhelmed, because 8 of these determine the Arts you get.

Your ground character's Arts don't matter when you use a Skell since it has its own arts. Skells don't have Skills, but they can benefit from your Class Skills.

For example, if you have Beam damage increase, your Skell can get that increase when using Beam damage. Skell have separate battle stats from ground characters.

You can tell by looking at the type of gear your ground character can wear. Skell wear has different abilities than the other types. Normal gear might have a Melee Attack Up ability.

This causes your ground character to deal more melee damage. This does not affect Skell melee damage. You need to wear Skell Wear if you want to enhance your Skell.

Skell wear might have similar ability, but it says Melee Attack Drive. Anytime you see Drive, that means it affects Skells. Whenever you fast travel, your Skell automatically comes with you as long as you register it to someone.

You can board and exit a Skell by pressing Y near one. Your Skell fuel appears on the right of the screen, under the mini-map.

Between my Ares 70, Ares 90, Verus and the Mastema In the right hands not the AI it's usually fine. I can trigger soul voice prompts and keep it alive, so it's not bad.

Just, I've found that for end-game fights, dodge is king. The super bosses put out so much damage and do annoying things like repeatedly topple, stagger, debuff, etc.

Sorry this is so long, but I have one more frame to talk about - the Excavator. I crafted this too after maxing out Alexa's affinity missions.

So, visually, it's basically a customized Amdusias. Different looking head, and some other slight differences, but it's basically the Amdusias.

It's really easy to craft. Waaaaaay easier than any level 60 frame. And it's also level So that means it can equip level 60 weapons and armor!

It's decent to toss onto an AI guy for a while as it's pretty tanky like the Amdusias, but it is a heavy skell so it's a fuel guzzler just like the rest.

You'll be throwing miranium at it like crazy and it'll probably still be one of the first skells to explode. As far as the overdrives go I haven't noticed any difference between the level 60 and 50 variants.

So, if you're really not sure what frame you want I'd recommend just getting a few level 50 frames, playing around with them for a bit, and seeing which one s you like best.

Then craft the level 60 variants. Any of the level 60 frames are good - it'll just take a lot of time and a lot of grinding to make them great.

I need a better analogy I just want to clarify on a couple of things. Evasion is great, but that's not to say that going the tanky route is bad.

In fact, there's going to be battles where you're probably better off with an Amdusias or one of the medium frames.

The difference is that, with evasion, you just stack one type of augment don't forget to use skellwear to further boost your skell's evasion!

However, with the heavier frames that can't dodge as much, what you need to do instead is stack resistance against the type of attacks the boss is using.

In this way you ultimately negate or "resist" most of the damage output and the battle is waaaaay easier. Both are valid strategies, but evasion requires a bit of luck to succeed at times.

Also, in order to evade the toughest bosses I imagine you'll need something like - ish evasion, which is hard to get. Going the mitigation route, you'll need to craft a lot more augments to resist each damage type.

Either way, you're looking at lots and lots of repetitiveness. They really took a page from MMO's on this one. Have you made any of the other level 60 Skells as well yet?

I've been focusing on getting ground gear to catch my characters up to their skells. I'm getting the Lailah next and then the Amdusias after that.

No plans to craft anything else atm. Now that I think about it, and having gone through all the armor I've stripped, the Ares is the only skell I've seen ether damage on.

And no gravity that I recall. I think that it probably doesn't exist. The only things I have for gravity and ether damage are some skell frame augments I've found AttributeDmg.

Yeah I sort of figured there wasn't any, since the level 50 armor that comes with them and the armor you can buy had no gravitydamage traits.

It wouldn't make sense for them to randomly give one of the level 60 skells gravity or ether, but I was hoping i was wrong. I know there was a buyable set of heavy armor with Ether damage traits on it, but that's not really an option for level 60 skells since you sacrifice so much else for it.

I wonder how much that harms potential damage output for light skells. I think Inferno gets beam damage armor by default, so at least mediums have that option, but lights seem to be left dealing with no damage attribute boosts.

When you think about it, it makes sense. The light frames already have very high evasion capabilities and they're much more efficient with their fuel usage.

If you give them crazy things like gravity or ether damage attributes the two strongest damage types as far as I know then they'll just be incredibly overpowered.

It also makes sense from a logical standpoint that the heavier frames would be able to dish out more damage at the end of the day. Like I said earlier in the thread, the lvl 60 frames all appear to be exact copies of the lvl 50 frames just with better armor.

However, there is one thing about the lower level armor that you bring up which may be valid - if you can one-shot something then what does it matter how low your armor is?

All the armor pieces could be at 1, but if you never had to worry about taking damage then Might be something to experiment with.

The thing about the Ether armor is that I'm not sure how useful it would even be, even ignoring armor values. Trident-Anchor is, if I recall, the only Superweapon that does ether damage, and I'm not even sure how that works out in the end.

It's listed as electric because it does both electric and ether damage, but I have no idea how it works that out. Does it do an even split?

Is it an uneven split? Does it just calculate damage according to which damage type the target is weaker against?

I think in most cases just using the Mastema's armor would win out over the level 50 ether armor. I think at the end of the day I'm more frustrated at how obtuse stats are in the game.

Comparing things like melee attack up, attribute damage up, and weapon attack power up is a pain in the ass since only one of them reflects on your displayed stats, and even then it's not quite clear how that calculates into you damage totals.

It gets even worse with skell weapon modules since some of the numbers given to you are very at odds with how the weapons actually perform.

Drones are a good example, and if you've used them you probably know why. Basically I just want to build a good gravity-based skell and I have no idea how to even go about doing it, plus there are other issues like there being no gravity-based sidearms or spare weapons, or ranged spare weapons that I am aware of.

I guess that's fine in the end since the skell wouldn't be heavily dependent on gravity attribute boosts like heavy skells are due to the armor traits, but that brings me back to wondering just how well those compare to melee attack up and what sort of traits on should be looking for on drops.

Yeah, I feel you. There's a ton of information they don't actually give you and you're sort of left on your own to figure it out.

Definitely a bad design decision IMO. And yeah, I've learned the hard way that weapons don't always perform according to the numbers which is a PITA.

Like you said, Drones do an insane amount of damage 4 drones on my Mastema each hit for around 8k - 10k 4 times in a row but the damage is only listed as You might look at something else that does 15, or 20, damage and think, "Wow, this is WAY better than those stupid drones.

I've found some real surprises as far as damage goes. I crafted my Amdusias a little while ago and have been testing it out with a thermal build.

At first, I thought the Heathorn sp? Like 30 - 40k damage and inflicts a DoT as well. It's actually pretty great.

I have the Buster-Launcher on my Mastema. It's not even an Intergalatic one, just a green one I found, but man is it powerful.

Also, it's sweet as hell. If you're a fan of mecha, then this is the big bad ass laser of doom that you've always wanted.

Does like 40 - 60k damage per hit to everything in front over the course of 3 ticks. The B2-Gattling is similar, and you can actually put both them on a skell if you want so I'd have gone with that if I hadn't found a 28k damage sniper rifle for the shoulder slot.

And then the Detonation-F. Yes, it does a lot of damage, but I'm talking over 1 million damage to everything in a fairly large radius around it.

Anyway, slightly off-topic, but I couldn't resist gushing about some of these weapons. It takes a lot of time and experimentation to figure out what's good and what sucks.

Ether is good too, and it does actually have more slots where you can utilize ether weapons than gravity, so there's a possibility there too.

My recommendation is to just get as many gravity weapons as you can equipped, farm some with favorable stats I have a 15k damage gravity weapon that has not one, but two gravity damage increases on it and then load up 3 of the gravity damage up augments onto the skell frame and Try some tyrants and see what sort of damage output you're doing vs ether or some other damage type.

You can see this at all times, as long as the Skell isn't destroyed. Combat in general works the same -- you just use Fuel for all your attacks so you can use them as much as you want when the cooldowns are up.

Appendages, Cockpit, Binding and Overdrives. Just like many enemies, your Skell's parts count as Appendages.

This means that if they take enough damage, they can break in battle. When this happens, you won't be able to use the weapons or Arts associated with that part.

As long as your Skell isn't destroyed, this heals once the battle is over or you run away. If your Skell is destroyed, you get a soul challenge.

If you get perfect, the Sell gets repaired for free and does not use an insurance. Good repairs it, but uses 1 insurance. Fail repairs it using 2 insurances and leaves your character at 1 HP.

If a party member has their Skell destroyed, they get an automatic perfect and it's repaired for free. Whenever you use an Art, you have a chance to activate the Cockpit.

The camera zooms in to your character inside the cockpit of the Skell and gives bonuses. This resets the cooldowns on all your arts, makes you invincible for a short time, and gives extra GP.

When you get close to an enemy, you have the chance to get a Bind prompt. This works like Topple and stuns the enemy.

Press ZR and ZL to start the bind. Multiple soul challenges appear and as long as you complete them, you'll keep them bound until time runs out.

If you miss any, the bind stops. You also get fuel back for binding. Like ground characters, when your Skell reaches GP, you can activate overdrive.

It works a little different, though, and each Skell type has its own overdrive.
